The Lake Linganore Association board of directors will be holding a special workshop session at 7 p.m. on Monday, November 17, at the LLA office, located at 6718 Coldstream Drive, to discuss the purchase of two parcels of land formerly owned by Land Stewards at a foreclosure sale scheduled for Friday, November 21.

LLA directors will discuss purchasing the 8.4 acres of land in Coldstream, commonly known as the "twin barns", and the approximate three acres in the village of North Shore known as the marina. The board is interested in these parcels of land because of their proximity to the villages.

Indian Cave area is not a part of the foreclosure sale so the LLA can not consider purchasing that "park" area. As a result that land will remain privately owned and not a part of the LLA common grounds or amenities.

All LLA members are encouraged to attend the meeting/workshop or contact LLA directors and general manager via email. All email address are available on the LLA web site under contact information at : www.lakelinganore.org.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT AMENITIES: As published in the July 2008 issue of Lake Talk, there are rules for use of all amenities by members. Recently, an increase in damage/theft to members and LLA property, and other unlawful activity (mostly by teens) has prompted LLA to more strictly enforce existing rules for amenity use.

Parents, as dues paying members, it is important for you to know that amenity areas are unsupervised and are not intended as a drop off area for younger children. To keep these amenities usable and friendly for ALL members, it is important that children are either supervised by an adult or instructed on proper behavior at the amenities. Using profanity, threatening gestures, underage drinking, or causing any other types of disturbances can and will lead to the removal of your children from the amenity area, and can possible lead to suspension of member privileges to use the amenities.

Also, let your children of driving age know that loaning LLA parking tags to their friends is unacceptable and will result in the unregistered vehicles being towed at the owners expense. LLA has seen an increase of vehicles displaying LLA parking tags, yet the vehicle is not registered in the LLA system. Again, the amenities and their parking areas are for members in good standing and trespassers have and will be issued citations and/or be arrested.

While we know that the majority of teens use the amenities responsibly, there is a growing percentage who have no respect for the community, its members, their property, or authority figures.

LLA management recently met with the Frederick County Sheriffs Office to increase the amount of patrols to the amenity areas and respond to any unlawful activity. LLA will also resume spot checks of valid LLA membership cards at amenity areas. These cards are required to use not only the pool, but all amenity areas. It is the one control LLA has to ensure that the dues paying members can enjoy their amenities.

You can help by:

1) Always displaying your valid LLA parking tag on your vehicles.
2) Always carry your valid LLA membership card while enjoying the amenities.
3) Reporting unlawful activity to LLA during business hours. If it is after hours, please contact the Frederick County Sheriffs Office at 301.600.2071
4) Speak with your children and have them also be responsible stewards of our shared resources.

ESPLANADE CLOSURE INFORMATION: The coldstream esplanade has been re-opened to pedestrian traffic only. Golfcarts, Motorcycles, ATV's and any other motorized vehicles are strictly prohibited. Violators will receive a $250.00 fine.

LLA has authorized the engineering firm to perform the additional tests to the structure to determine the exact cause of the damage and to provide a report outlining the short and long term repairs that will be necessary for the structure.

Don't get towed! Valid LLA parking tags must be displayed at all times. The blue 2008 decals must be affixed to your parking tag immediately once received. Enforcement of 2008 decals will begin on June 15, 2008. Parking tags may not be loaned or given to others for their use. Towing fees are the sole responsibility of the vehicle owner. The LLA does not reimburse towing fees. Click here for more information on vehicle parking and towing.

Important Note: Temporary parking passes are only valid at the Coldstream Pool parking lot. Vehicles using temporary parking passes at the beaches / dams will be towed at the owners expense. Also, membership cards are not a substitute for parking tags. Do not display your membership card as a parking tag or your vehicle may be towed.

As resolved by the LLA Board of Directors on June 20, 2005, Golf cart traffic on the LLA trail section from North Shore (Eaglehead Perch) to the Brosius Dam is prohibited until further notice.
